After earning an MFA in Film & Video Production from the California Institute of the Arts, Hayward worked in the entertainment industry on film and television productions including Inception, The Aviator, Eureka!, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and The Dark Knight Rises. He now teaches film at California State University Long Beach, Loyola Marymount University and El Camino College. His personal work is primarily in documentary and experimental film.  Some new narrative projects are in the works for future unveiling.
